The Parents


One of the reasons that children and teens get obese is because of what their parents put on their plates. Since parents are in control of what you eat they should feed you healthy alternatives rather than highly processed junk food. Most people do not have time to come home and cook a meal with all the health benefits and right number of calories. Instead they choose the easier solution which is to grab a five dollar meal from McDonald’s. In the article “Attacking the Obesity Epidemic by First Figuring Out It’s Cause” by Jane E. Brody she explains that in the 1940’s and 1950’s most of the meals eaten were prepared and eaten at home, even when some parents worked. Another reason that parents are to blame is that their role models for their children, whatever the parent consumes their child will want to eat the same thing. Parents need to choose healthy food to feed their families so they do not gain unnecessary weight.
